Chiropractic
Chiropractic adjustments are used to restore alignment and proper movement to the vertebral segments of the spine. This reduces the interference of nerves exiting your spine allowing your brain and central nervous system to communicate properly with the rest of your body and actually heal itself.
There are numerous types of chiropractic techniques. The most common technique we use consists of the doctor applying a fast and light force into a very specific area of the spine to restore function. We occasionally use special instruments called activators to assist us with the adjustment.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture implements the use of very fine, sterile, stainless steel needles that are inserted into specific points on the body called meridian points. Each meridian point is connected to specific areas and organs of the body. When a needle is inserted into a meridian point it restores the balance of the positive and negative energies at that point. When the balance at multiple related meridians is restored, it alleviates pain and many other symptoms of the specific area or organ of the body. Which meridian points are used depends on the patient’s symptoms.
Massage
Massage is provided by Sandy Spindler, CMT the owner, and operator of Lakes Massage. Sandy is also a distributor of Young Living essential oils. Massage is a great adjunct to chiropractic care.
Therapeutic Ultrasound
Ultrasound implements the use of high-frequency sound waves generated by a vibrating crystal in the head of the machine. These sound waves cause small vibrations in the tissue creating deep heat. The heat produced increases blood flow to the specific area which in turn carries away inflammation and supplies nutrients to the injury site.
Electrical Muscle Stimulation (EMS)
Electrical Muscle Stimulation or EMS uses electrical current applied to an injury through the placement of special pads on the skin. The stimulation causes your body to increase blood flow to the area allowing it to carry out inflammation and bring in nutrients to aid in the healing process. An added benefit is that it also causes the body to produce endorphins and enkephalins, which are your body’s natural pain relievers.
Kinesiology Taping
Kinesiology Tape is a specially designed tape that helps to support an injured area without restricting movement (restricting movement to an injury can actually prolong the healing process). The tape increases your body’s proprioception (your ability to know you have your arm raised without actually having to see it). By increasing the proprioception it prevents the area from moving past its natural range of motion and teaches it how to move properly.
